Are you ready for this? What is the first thing that come into mind when someone mention or think about home-based business? Let me help you a little bit! People think about: financial freedom, make money online, working from home, no commuting to an office, been able to travel, been able to take vacation, and so on and so forth.

Yet, how many do you think would be able to achieve those dreams? Not many! But, do you know why? Well, most people think that starting an online home-based business is a get-rich-quick scheme and that’s not true.  Some gurus do promote network marketing as such but in reality network marketing is not a get-rich-quick game. If you are going to start a network marketing business then you must think of it as a long term game plan.

You need to have the right mindset about network marketing in order to succeed in that field. Some gurus ask you to make a list of your friends and families to pitch your business opportunity, right? Well, let me tell you right now that this does not work. If you are building a business solely on the expectation that your friends and families are going to join, then I must tell you to stop right there, because you are going to fail.

Network marketing is about numbers. I’m pretty sure you can agree with me that you don’t have enough friends or relatives to get to those numbers. Not only that, maybe your friends or relatives are not even interested in your business opportunity. If you persist you might lose the relationship because they might get tired of you trying to pitch them all the time.

Remember, almost all home-based business opportunities are about network marketing. Keep in mind those 2 words: NETWORK and MARKETING. You need a network then you need to market. Therefore, you have to think of a game plan if you decide to get involved in network marketing. Your game plan should include strategy to get your business in front of people who are interested in this niche. I, personally, believe that it’s a waste of time to go after people who don’t know anything about network marketing.

Even when you join a team that have a traffic coop to help you get leads, you cannot just rely on that to build your business. If you are truly serious about building your own network marketing empire then you need to learn how to drive traffic to your sites, affiliate links, lead capture or landing pages. Your families, relatives, friends, and co-workers won’t work. Yes, I said it! They don’t work. As of matter of fact you need to be careful not to bother those people too much about your opportunity if you care about the relationship.

Let me clarify something here! I am not saying that you cannot talk business with your close ones. Because, if they come asking you what you do then this is an opportunity for you not to miss. But, this only happen when you are already doing good with your business. They become curious and want to know how you are able to make so much money working from home. Then this is your opportunity to pitch them about your business.

Notice that I told you that you have to be already successful in your business before you can pitch your friends and families. But the question remain how can that happen if i can’t pitch them, right? Well, this where your network marketing skills come into the picture. See, the idea of working from home as a network marketer, for the most part,  always has to do about knowing how to connect with like minded individuals who might need what you have to offer.
